SEVENTH ANNUAL TEMESCAL
VALLEY COMMUNITY FAIRE
Another year, another Faire. But not just another day
in Temescal
Valley, California. This was the highly anticipated day of the 2006
Temescal Valley Community Faire.
It happened on Saturday, May 20th. Wow! About 2,800 people showed up for
this annual event and helped to make it another success.

The 67 exhibitors began arriving at about 9:00 am to
begin setting up their booths and organizing their brochures, candy and free
giveaways. There were also 10-12 additional exhibitors from the County
of Riverside, including Supervisor
Bob Buster on hand.
There
was no shortage of volunteers either - about 70 people signed up to put
on a yellow
hat and shirt to help promote the idea of community. A spirit of
helpfulness was adrift on the Temescal
Driving Range. The 25 cent hot dogs and free watermelon
didn't hurt that atmosphere either.

Children
ran joyfully back and forth between the giant slide and obstacle
jumpers, the rock climbing wall (always a favorite), the cotton
candy and snow
cone booths and the Sheriff's
Department helicopter and off-road all terrain vehicles. There
was the Fire Department's truck to explore, paramedics' van to learn
about, a
long line of games and crafts booths, clown
face painting, the
West Coast Customs monster truck, a petting zoo... Whew! They never
stopped and never grew tired. Hey, they're kids.
This was their day.
Entertainment
this year on and around the stage area was performed by David
Harnden and "Caught Up" as the house band. Chelsea
Elephante sang a number of great songs for the crowd and Jazz Connection
did two dance
numbers
to the delight of all.
Prizes were given away throughout the day, donated by
various businesses and groups who had booths at the Faire. Among other
things, there was a K & W BBQ, valued at over $800.00 and an XBox
360 valued at over $300.00 that excited the crowds.
4 O'clock came too soon as the families began to head
home, the
booths were packed up and the Sheriff's
helicopter lifted off and faded out into the blue California sky.
Another Faire had ended. Another day had passed. But
not just another day. It was another chance for the Temescal Valley
community to strengthen itself and grow. It was another success.
